Tungsten lamps, also known as incandescent bulbs, are one of the oldest and most widely recognized forms of electric lighting. They operate by passing an electric current through a thin tungsten filament, which heats up until it glows, emitting visible light. The filament is enclosed in a glass bulb filled with an inert gas to prevent oxidation and prolong the filament's life.
