Overview
TC4 titanium rod, also known as Grade 5 titanium or Ti-6Al-4V, is the most widely used titanium alloy globally. Its thermal conductivity (6.7 W/m·K) and electrical resistivity (1.78 μΩ·m) are relatively low, requiring special consideration during machining and welding processes.

In aerospace, TC4 rods manufacture landing gear components, engine mounts, and airframe structures. The medical industry uses them for orthopedic implants and surgical instruments due to their osseointegration capabilities. While non-toxic, TC4 rods require standard metalworking precautions: use proper ventilation when grinding, and wear PPE to prevent metal dust inhalation. Store rods in dry conditions to prevent surface contamination. Titanium is non-magnetic and non-sparking but combustible in powder form. Firefighting requires Class D extinguishers for titanium fires. For medical-grade rods, maintain cleanroom packaging until use.
