Solid adhesive is a thermoplastic material that bonds substrates upon melting and cooling. Unlike liquid adhesives, it is stored and handled in solid form, typically as sticks, pellets, or blocks. Molten adhesives pose burn risks—industrial applicators require temperature controls and thermal insulation. Adequate ventilation prevents accumulation of decomposition fumes, which may form above 200°C. NFPA ratings typically classify solid adhesives as Class 1 (low) flammability. Storage stability exceeds 2 years when kept in original moisture-proof packaging. Bulk pellets should avoid prolonged exposure to humidity, which can cause foaming during melting.
