While aluminum is non-flammable, fine particles can pose explosion hazards in high concentrations. Storage areas should minimize dust accumulation and avoid contact with acids or alkalis that may generate hydrogen gas. Workers handling sharp scrap should wear cut-resistant gloves. Long-term outdoor storage may accelerate oxidation, but this doesn’t significantly impact remelting efficiency. Suppliers often bale or compact scrap to reduce transport risks and costs.
