Overview
430 stainless steel (AISI 430) is a chromium-containing ferritic stainless steel with approximately 16-18% chromium content. It offers good corrosion resistance comparable to Type 304 in many environments, though with reduced chemical resistance compared to austenitic grades. The material is particularly valued for its combination of mechanical properties, formability, and cost-effectiveness. As a ferritic stainless steel, 430 is inherently magnetic and cannot be hardened by heat treatment. Its lower nickel content makes it more economical than 300-series stainless steels, while still providing adequate performance for many applications. Physical and Chemical Properties

The grade's magnetic properties make it suitable for electromagnetic applications.
