Polyester-based plastic resin, primarily polyethylene terephthalate (PET), is a thermoplastic polymer derived from petroleum. It is one of the most widely used engineering plastics globally due to its balance of mechanical properties, processability, and cost-effectiveness. The material is produced through polycondensation of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. PET resin exhibits high tensile strength (55-75 MPa) and moderate flexibility with a glass transition temperature around 70-80°C. While generally safe when solid, molten PET requires careful handling to prevent thermal degradation, which may release acetaldehyde. Resin pellets are typically packaged in 25kg moisture-resistant bags with desiccants for long-term storage.
