Overview
PFA powder is a semi-crystalline fluoropolymer derived from the copolymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) monomers. It combines the properties of PTFE (e.g., non-reactivity) with improved melt-processability, making it suitable for injection molding and extrusion. Developed in the 1970s as an advanced alternative to PTFE, PFA powder is valued in industries requiring materials that withstand aggressive chemicals, high temperatures (up to 260°C continuous use), and stringent electrical insulation standards.

PFA powder exhibits exceptional resistance to acids, bases, and solvents, including aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid. Thermal processing must occur below 380°C to avoid toxic gas release (e.g., hydrogen fluoride). Store in sealed containers at room temperature. Avoid contamination with organic materials, which may degrade performance. Shelf life is typically 2–5 years under proper conditions.
