Overview
Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) profiles are semi-finished products made from one of the highest performance thermoplastic polymers available today. PEEK belongs to the polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family and is valued for its ability to maintain excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures. The profiles are manufactured through extrusion or machining processes to create rods, sheets, tubes, and custom shapes. PEEK was first developed in the late 1970s and has since become a material of choice for demanding engineering applications. PEEK profiles are generally safe to handle under normal conditions, as the material is non-toxic and non-irritating. When heated above 400°C, PEEK may release small amounts of decomposition products that could be irritating to mucous membranes. For storage, PEEK profiles should be kept in their original packaging in a dry environment at room temperature. Exposure to UV light should be minimized to prevent any potential surface degradation. The material is not hygroscopic but should be protected from excessive moisture to prevent potential dimensional changes in precision components.
