Main Applications
The primary use of GB standard modified pitch is in aluminum smelting, where it binds petroleum coke to form anode blocks for electrolytic cells. These anodes must withstand extreme temperatures while maintaining electrical conductivity. Secondary applications include manufacturing graphite electrodes for steelmaking (25-30% of consumption) and producing carbon bricks for furnace linings.
