Overview
Micro-expansion castable is a refractory material engineered to expand slightly (0.5–2%) when exposed to high temperatures, compensating for shrinkage in adjacent materials. Composed of alumina, silica, and expansion agents like kyanite or andalusite, it is mixed with water and poured into place before hardening. Its primary function is to maintain structural integrity in thermal equipment by preventing gaps caused by thermal cycling.
