Hydroxy-terminated polysiloxane is a specialized silicone polymer characterized by reactive hydroxyl (-OH) groups at both ends of its molecular chain. Hydroxy-terminated polysiloxanes are generally considered low-toxicity materials, but proper handling procedures should still be followed. Skin contact may cause mild irritation, and eye contact should be avoided. Use nitrile gloves and safety goggles when handling. Storage requires protection from moisture, as the hydroxyl groups can react with water over time. Keep containers tightly sealed in a cool (below 30°C), dry environment away from strong acids, bases, and oxidizing agents. Shelf life is typically 12 months when stored properly in original containers.
