Molten HMAs pose burn risks; use heat-resistant gloves and equipment with temperature controls. Ensure workspaces are ventilated to disperse minor fumes, though HMAs generally emit negligible VOCs. Store pellets or sticks in sealed containers to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause foaming during melting. Disposal follows local regulations for thermoplastics. Unused adhesive can often be remelted, but repeated heating cycles may degrade performance. Spills should be cooled and scraped mechanically—avoid solvents for cleanup.
