Overview
Polyphthalamide (PPA) is a high-performance thermoplastic known for its exceptional heat resistance and mechanical properties. As a semi-aromatic polyamide, it bridges the gap between conventional nylons and more expensive high-temperature polymers like PEEK. PPA is synthesized through polycondensation of aromatic dicarboxylic acids with aliphatic diamines, resulting in a material that retains strength and dimensional stability even at elevated temperatures. PPA is engineered for demanding applications where standard nylons would fail. Processing requires barrel temperatures of 320-340°C and mold temperatures of 120-150°C for optimal results.
