High-purity polypropylene is a linear hydrocarbon polymer synthesized from propylene monomers through chain-growth polymerization. Its high stability stems from its saturated hydrocarbon backbone, which resists chemical attack and degradation. Industrial-grade PP typically has a purity of 99.5% or higher, with medical and food-contact grades requiring even stricter impurity controls. Unlike standard PP, high-purity variants undergo additional purification processes to remove catalyst residues, additives, and oligomers. Electronics manufacturers utilize high-purity PP in battery separators and insulator components where ionic contamination must be avoided. Automotive applications include fuel system components and under-hood parts that demand thermal and chemical resistance. Proper storage involves keeping the material in original packaging below 40°C with relative humidity under 80%.
