Overview
Flame retardant polyamide (FR-PA) is an engineered thermoplastic modified with additives to inhibit combustion. Unlike standard polyamides, it self-extinguishes when exposed to flame, making it critical for applications where fire safety is paramount. The material combines polyamide's inherent strength and chemical resistance with enhanced fire performance. Safety and Storage
While FR-PA itself is stable, combustion products may contain hydrogen cyanide (HCN) or phosphorus oxides. Processing requires local exhaust ventilation to manage potential fumes during injection molding. Storage should prevent moisture absorption (max. 0.2% humidity) to maintain properties. Bulk bags must be kept sealed and palletized away from heat sources. Shelf life typically exceeds 24 months in proper conditions.
