Electromagnetic flowmeters (magmeters) are industrial instruments that measure the volumetric flow rate of electrically conductive liquids without moving parts. They operate based on Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction, where a magnetic field is applied to the metering tube and voltage is induced proportional to the liquid's flow velocity. Structure and Working Principle

Maintenance and Precautions
While electromagnetic flowmeters require less maintenance than mechanical meters, proper installation is critical. The pipe must run full (bubble-free) for accurate measurement, requiring vertical upward flow or proper slope in horizontal pipes. Grounding rings or grounding electrodes are essential to prevent measurement errors from stray currents. Periodic checks should verify electrode condition (cleanliness) and liner integrity. In slurry applications, electrode abrasion may require more frequent inspection. Modern diagnostic functions can alert to developing issues like coating buildup or empty pipe conditions.
