Cathodic protection (CP) materials are metals or alloys used to prevent corrosion in structures by acting as sacrificial anodes or as part of impressed current systems. They work by deliberately corroding instead of the protected structure, thereby extending its lifespan. Common materials include magnesium, zinc, and aluminum alloys, each selected based on environmental conditions and electrochemical efficiency. Avoid stacking dissimilar metals to prevent galvanic corrosion during storage. Handling requires dry gloves to prevent contamination, which could alter performance.
