Air ultraviolet (UV) refers to the ultraviolet radiation naturally present in the atmosphere or artificially generated for specific applications. It occupies the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and X-rays, typically categorized into UVA (315-400 nm), UVB (280-315 nm), and UVC (100-280 nm) wavelengths. Safety and Storage
Direct exposure to UV radiation, especially UVC, poses significant health risks including corneal damage (photokeratitis) and skin burns. Industrial UV systems must incorporate safety interlocks and proper shielding. For UV-generating equipment, storage should prevent accidental activation and protect fragile components (e.g., quartz sleeves of UV lamps). Systems containing mercury require special disposal procedures in compliance with environmental regulations.
