Overview
Active Boron Nitride (BN) is a chemically modified form of boron nitride engineered for enhanced reactivity and performance in specialized applications. Unlike standard hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), active BN exhibits improved dispersion in matrices and stronger interfacial bonding, making it ideal for composite materials and functional coatings. This material retains the inherent advantages of boron nitride, including exceptional thermal stability (up to 1000°C in air), oxidation resistance, and dielectric strength. Physical and Chemical Properties
Active Boron Nitride maintains a hexagonal crystal structure similar to graphite, contributing to its lubricity and anisotropic thermal conductivity (∼300 W/m·K in-plane). Dust explosion hazards are minimal due to its high thermal stability. Storage recommendations include moisture-proof packaging with desiccants, as humidity can affect surface reactivity.
